Located approximately 30 minutes west of Almonte in the Hamlet of Mississippi Station, Back Forty Artisan Cheese is a small farm and sheep dairy. All of the raw sheep milk which is used to craft their traditional unpasteurized cheeses comes from three nearby family run farms.
With a core focus on animal welfare, land stewardship, quality home grown feed and pasture, these farms are able to achieve the highest quality milk which is carefully refined into the most delicious cheese through the natural process of fermentation.
Back Forty believes in a more traditional hands on approach to cheese making. They are a small owner operated company whose primary goal is providing a unique and great tasting cheese that captures the terroir and flavor of the rustic and beautiful Ottawa valley.
